Volunteer report: A new stand for our cultural capital

Illuminated sign with the inscription "Chemnitz 2025 - C THE UNSEEN" against a night-time backdrop. The sign is brightly lit and thus contrasts with the dark surroundings. A building and leafless trees can be seen behind it.

In the volunteer editorial team, Volunteers for Chemnitz 2025 publish reports on their experiences, assignments and adventures around the European Capital of Culture.

Sophie is 30 years old, works full-time in the justice system and lives in the Chemnitz area. She has been working for the European Capital of Culture since May 2024 and has already gained a lot of experience in various areas. As a guiding volunteer for Chemnitz2025, she is therefore present at numerous events.

As I walked from Hartmannplatz towards the city centre on Monday evening, 9 December 2024, I was amazed to see what was on my right: a beautiful new stand for our Capital of Culture - right in front of the Hartmannfabrik.

In addition to Chemnitz 2025, the lettering also shows the motto for our Capital of Culture year: C THE UNSEEN. I think this makes perfect use of the empty space on the corner of Hartmannstraße and Fabrikstraße and enhances our city even more.

And here's an insider tip: the colour of the lettering changes regularly. So it's worth stopping by and taking photos.
