On 2 November, Peter was kind to us and spared the #3000 Garage team's last planned concert of the year. A week earlier, an open-air concert would have been impossible. It was pouring with rain and the wind did the rest.
On this Sunday evening, we volunteers and numerous guests from the neighbourhood met at the Ahornstraße garage courtyard for the event. A small garage concert has been held there every year since 2023 - each time with a different band, which always creates a special atmosphere.
To quench hunger and thirst, friendly garage users and volunteer Ellen offered drinks, roasts and grilled cheese for a small fee.
The Asphaltraketen, a live acoustic band, immediately played a great set.
From the very first track, the super-rock music of the 80s and 90s swept over the stage. The audience listened to songs like "Purple Rain" and swayed to the rhythm. For around 90 minutes, the musicians played popular oldies that many people remember from their youth. An emotional highlight was singing the well-known song "Der Mond ist aufgegangen" together - a moment that created a unique atmosphere and emphasised the special nature of this last joint concert in 2025.
An open nostalgia garage with GDR artefacts and a photo box invited guests to take souvenir photos.
Thanks to the asphalt rockets, the garage users and the #3000 garage team of Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH for the successful farewell concert in the Capital of Culture year 2025.
An evening that will linger on for a long time - entertaining, warm and with great sound.
I very much hope that it will continue next year!
