Julia has lived in Chemnitz since 2012 and has been part of the volunteer programme since February 2025 to make new contacts. In the process, she got to know many different people - her interest in art and culture was rekindled.
This event was not only big and impressive, but also full of energy. Precisely because there were so many exciting art installations centred around the theme of "time", it might have benefited from more preparation time and additional volunteers. But that would be the only thing that could be criticised.
The first event on Tuesday started with a smaller team. Nevertheless, many questions were answered in the online briefing and the most important content was conveyed so that everyone was well prepared.
As my assignment in the evening had been spontaneously postponed by an hour, I stood in for another post to bridge the time. That was a good thing, as there was a shortage of staff there.
My companion for the scientific survey was very nice. Equipped with microphones and umbrellas, we started at the Karl Marx Monument, walked across Marienplatz and finally arrived at Theaterplatz. I described my impressions of the art installations and answered questions in my - I hope - witty way. I was able to enjoy the many colourful facades with background music. The hour of the interview flew by. As a small gift, I was given a delicious Printe from Aachen.
Afterwards, I heard from other volunteers and friends that the project was very well received by the visitors. The many photos and enthusiastic comments speak for themselves. It was really worth coming along.
