Chemnitz composers in concert
Joint concert by a sighted chamber orchestra and a visually impaired choir
Three songs from the film "The Children of Monsieur Mathieu" were performed by the choir of the State School for the Blind and Visually Impaired and the Collegium Instrumentale chamber orchestra, which has been dedicated to regional church music since it was founded in 1956. The orchestra was conducted by Georg Christoph Sandmann, Professor of Orchestral Conducting at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden. The orchestra also performed individual works by Chemnitz composers such as Christian Gottlob Neefe, who was Ludwig van Beethoven's teacher, and the promising contemporary composer Thomas Stöß.
