Disruptive interventions in a contradictory neighbourhood

Sonnenberg has a reputation for being a little rougher. Once a working-class neighbourhood, it is now Chemnitz's youngest district and the one with the highest influx of migrants. The Chemnitz football club's stadium is located on the edge, renovated old buildings stand next to well-kept prefabricated blocks, fine dining meets visible poverty.

The Solitaer e.V. club organised the "Dialogue Fields" residency programme in this field of tension. Three international artists were invited to live and work in Chemnitz for six weeks at a time. they lived here, got to know the city, met people from Chemnitz and developed new artistic ideas. The artistic works created a meeting place in public space for people with different realities of life. At public meetings, people were able to get to know the artists' projects, ask questions or engage in dialogue with them. Spontaneous interventions also took place.
