The availability of resources is crucial for our society. Without fertile soil, there can be no agriculture. Without water and raw materials, no industry. Without soil and water, no life.

The exploitation of raw materials often goes hand in hand with human rights violations and enormous environmental damage. Water reserves are being used up - in the full knowledge that this is happening at the expense of future generations. Countries in the Global South are particularly affected by this.
But even in Europe and Germany, individuals are making huge profits at the expense of the common good.

Author and investigative journalist Uwe Ritzer takes a closer look in his new book "The sell-out: water, soil, raw materials" at those who are making profits from water, soil and raw materials today and thus deciding our future. He presents selected examples. The reading will be followed by a discussion with him.

The event is being organised in cooperation with weiterdenken-Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Sachsen.
