Once a year, the best brick filmmakers come together, each year at a different location in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. In the European Capital of Culture year, the Metropol cinema in Chemnitz will be the venue for this very special film festival.

The Steinerei has been a short film festival for stop-motion short films made from LEGO and other brick systems since 2005. The best brick filmmakers meet once a year, each year at a different location in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. In the Capital of Culture year, the Metropol cinema in Chemnitz will be the venue for this very special film festival.

On Whit Sunday, 8 June 2025, the Metropol cinema will host the Brickfilm Festival in collaboration with the Chemnitz Brickfilm Festival team. International guests and a varied programme on the topic of bricks are expected.

11 am
Opening of the festival with a welcome and the film reel "The best of 20 years of Steinerei", brick films for children, followed by two presentations by the filmmakers on the making of Klemmbaustein films
 

2 pm
Steinerei 2025 Brickfilm Festival on the theme of "Invisibility", this year's edition of the short film competition with many new films and filmmakers, selected by an expert jury, award ceremony including audience award
