As a working-class child from a rural area, Sara Mari Blom (* 1994) studied Costume Design (BA) in Hanover and Integrated Design (MA) in Bremen. She is an alumna of the TASAWAR Curatorial Studios 2020/21 of the Goethe-Institut Tunis and received the IFA scholarship of the Cross Culture Programme 2021.
As an artist, writer and worker, she explores the relationship between class, space and encounter. Blom's debut "Where I (shouldn't) be" was published in July this year. In it, she explores the emotional consequences of so-called educational advancement. Blom contrasts this much-vaunted success story with her experiences of classism and inner turmoil. And she introduces a relentless protagonist that characterises her life: shame.
