The event includes a programme section and the Mile of Democracy.
In the programme part , the film "Justin Sonder 1925 - 2020", premiered on 26.01.2025, will be played in a continuous loop.
Julja Kausch, a sculptor from Rostock, will be a guest and will give a lively account of the history of the creation of the monument "A bench for Justin Sonder" in several mini-guided tours.
The EGE youth choir of the Protestant school community Erzgebirge from Annaberg will present parts of its programme "CHANGE = CHANCE", premiering on 23.05.2025.
The plucked string orchestra of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School and a Finnish guest orchestra will surprise the audience.
The Mile of Democracy consists of several actors. Information will be provided on the status of the Capital of Culture project "A monument as a social seismograph for democracy", Chemnitz University of Technology will present "LeDiT - Learning with Digital Testimonies", Radio T will report on the everyday life of an independent radio station, the Brühlpioniere children's station will offer face painting, handicrafts and balloons, Rosa Luxemburg Primary School will present the primary school project "Favourite Places" and there will be a reading station in cooperation with the Buchladen am Brühl bookshop. Dialogue formats from the John Dewey Research Centre for Didactics of Democracy, embroidery instead of bickering and dialogue dating round off the mile.
On this day, catering will be provided by Restaurant Schalom, Cafe Karl mag's süß and Brühl-Boulevard e.V.
