What role does culture play in the formation of personal, national and European identity? Are cultural traditions in tension with individual self-images - or is a new, European identity emerging in a globalised world? And how stable is the idea of a common European culture in the face of growing political and social tensions?

These and other questions will be addressed in a panel discussion with the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, Wolfram Weimer, the Saxon State Minister for Culture and Tourism, Barbara Klepsch, the Mayor of Chemnitz, Sven Schulze, and the Director of the Cottbus State Theatre, Hasko Weber.
