URBAN ARTS CAMPUS 2026: 05.07.2026 - 12.07.2026
This year's Urban Arts Campus at Garagencampus Chemnitz is an intensive urban arts experience for children and young people who not only want to look at graffiti, street art and contemporary forms of creative expression, but also experience, understand and actively shape them themselves. At the beginning of the creative week, participants immerse themselves in the history, culture and global development of graffiti and street art. Through talks, films and joint screenings, they gain insights into the origins of this movement in New York City, its spread to Europe and the continuing significance of this culture to this day. This is followed directly by practical work. The creative week concludes with a special film premiere. A short film specially produced during the entire creative process captures the atmosphere, the development of the artworks and the personal stories of the participants.
The programme is aimed at teenagers and young people (aged 12 and over), but does not exclude other interested parties. Registration is required. The consent of a parent or guardian is required for minors up to and including the age of 16. Supervision is provided by the workshop team during the workshops. There may be free periods outside of the workshop times. The responsibility for participation lies with the legal guardians, who must ensure that they are authorised to participate.
Participation in the URBAN ARTS CAMPUS is free of charge. Early cancellation is recommended so that places that become available can be reallocated. In the event of last-minute cancellations, places may be reallocated.
All materials required for the workshops will be provided. With the exception of textiles such as T-shirts or hoodies for the upcycling workshop, which you must bring yourself. It is recommended that you wear clothing that is suitable for creative work and can also get dirty, as you will be working with colours and spray materials.
