STRAW INTO GOLD is a textile upcycling club founded by incarcerated and non-incarcerated women. In a series of workshops at Chemnitz Prison and in a garage on the grounds of Kulturhaus Arthur in August 2025, they work on broken, discarded clothes, painting and printing them or decorating them in the spirit of Visible Mending. In the exhibition at Kulturhaus Arthur, documentary photos taken by inmates at Chemnitz Prison give an impression of creative and artistic processes within the prison walls.
