German-Czech Story Day

Inspired by the nationwide Read Aloud Day, there will be a German-Czech event at Chemnitz University Library on 14 November to immerse yourself in the language and culture of our neighbouring country. Under the motto "DIVE IN - PONOŘTE SE!", everything will revolve around reading aloud and telling stories - with a special focus on German-Czech cooperation:

After a German-Czech training course on multilingual reading aloud and storytelling for educational professionals from daycare centres takes place in the morning, the general public from young to old is invited to join in the afternoon and evening.

• The afternoon from 3 p. m. is especially designed for families and children: there will be reading islands supervised by Czech and German native speakers, hands-on activities and, as a special highlight, the German-Czech bilingual interactive storytelling theatre "Vom dummen Honza - O hloupém Honzovi" at 4 p.m. , which will be performed by the actress Jule Richter together with her Prague colleague Jana Podlipná.
• In the evening, there will be a book reading with the successful Czech author Jaroslav Rudiš , who will read from his book "Christmas in Prague" .

The Consul General of the Czech Republic in Dresden, Ivona Valhová, Ph.D., has taken on the patronage of the story day and will be there herself in the evening to open the book reading.
