Apple trees are planted along a country lane on the Pfaff family's farm: 16 trees form an avenue of apple trees and a further 8 trees form an additional row of trees. It's a lot of work, but doubly worthwhile: the trees will later provide shade for the grazing animals and deliver delicious apples. The Gahlenz neighbourhood plants together and is happy about every helping hand from near and far.
At the final planting festival of Gelebte Nachbarschaft, hundreds of apple trees will be planted together in Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture Region from 19 to 26 October 2025.
This project is cofinanced by tax funds on the basis of the parliamentary budget of the state of Saxony and by federal funds from the Beauftragter der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media), as well as funds from the City of Chemnitz.
