The school grounds and the school garden at Chemnitz Waldorf School are already a real eye-catcher! People have been busy planting, observing, tending, harvesting and utilising here for a long time. Fresh vegetables, tasty herbs and colourful flowers show what is possible when many hands help together.

Now apple trees are being added - and with them a new task for the school community. Four school classes are taking on the sponsorships and with them the awareness of nature, sustainability and the joint creation of one's own learning and living environment is growing.

At the final planting festival of Living Neighbourhood, hundreds of apple trees will be planted together in Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture Region from 19 to 26 October 2025.

Get to work, grab a spade and plant the future!
