Together with the "Plant for the planet" initiative, apple trees are planted on the school grounds to make the learning environment even greener. They enrich learning and, once well cared for, invite pupils to harvest. The pupils lend a hand and take responsibility.

At the final planting festival of Gelebte Nachbarschaft, hundreds of apple trees will be planted together in Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture Region from 19 to 26 October 2025.
