Experience the creativity of the Ore Mountains first-hand – the Maker Festival Erzgebirge in Augustusburg on Saturday 5 September from 1 pm at the Lehngericht! A whole day packed with ideas, tools, materials and hands-on activities: The Erzgebirge Maker Festival is now in its fourth year and will be stopping off in Augustusburg in 2026. Makers from across the region invite you to get involved, try out new things and immerse yourself hands-on in the worlds of creativity, craftsmanship and digital technology.

At the various stations, visitors of all ages can create, experiment, tinker and discover. Whether it’s upcycling, crafts, technology, digital tools or creative design – everywhere, the focus is on doing things yourself, sharing knowledge and striking up conversations with one another. This leads to the creation of useful and decorative items for everyday life, new perspectives on materials and plenty of enthusiasm for giving things a go.

The Erzgebirge Maker Festival highlights the region’s creative potential and demonstrates just how much innovative spirit, community and inventiveness there is in rural areas. Participants include, amongst others: Lössnitz Makers, Kulturwerk Schneeberg, Buntspeicher Zwönitz, Flimmern & Friemeln, Alte Brauerei Annaberg, himbeerblau.lab, Sternenlabor Plauen, the Olbernhauer Hutzenstübl, Vector Lab, Mentor Spot and many more. Admission is free.

Makerhubs

Nine Makerhubs in Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture Region will become places where people can learn from each other and create something new together. They are also places where designers, craftspeople, entrepreneurs, the next generation of skilled workers and makers from all over the world come together. Visitors and creative tourists can experience regional culture and traditions at workshops. The Makerhubs are part of the Makers, Business & Arts programme. This main project of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 is all about promoting creative tourism offerings and cross-sector collaboration between industry and creative professionals. The project is being implemented by the Kulturhauptstadt Europas Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH in cooperation with the Landesverband der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft Sachsen e. V.
