This open workshop is aimed at anyone who would like to try their hand at bobbin lace-making (again). At the same time, the workshop combines the craft of bobbin lace-making with new technologies: 3D-printed beads are incorporated into bobbin-laced bracelets, whilst bobbin-laced bookmarks are sewn into frames produced by a 3D printer.

Bobbin lace bracelets – the perfect introduction to bobbin lace-making and 3D printing! Includes:

  • Setting up the bobbins and attaching the thread
  • Crossing and turning the bobbins
  • Making the “braid”
  • An introduction to 3D printing
  • Incorporating beads from the 3D printer

Bookmark – a classic bobbin lace pattern following on from the ‘Flechter’, includes:

  • Learning to read bobbin charts
  • Making the linen stitch
  • Sewing the ribbon into a 3D-printed frame

Both formats are always offered on the workshop date. The choice between a bracelet (beginner) and a bookmark (advanced) depends on the participants’ existing level of knowledge. Recommended age: 8 years and over.

A basic supply of materials is provided. Anyone who prefers to work with their own materials is welcome to bring them along.

The studio is located on the premises of Bunte Bude Chemnitz e. V. at Zöllnerstraße 18 in Chemnitz (rear building, last room on the upper corridor).
