Microproject | Theatre play: Chasing the Dream – The Story of Olympian Uta Hoffmann

Three teenagers, together with their friends, are telling a true story: Coco, Eva and Zoe have put their heart and soul into bringing the life of Olympic athlete Uta Hofmann to the stage in the form of a play.

Three girls tell a true story: On 14 August at the Hoftheater Krumbach, the three young playwrights Coco, Eva and Zoe will stage their own play about the Olympian Uta Hoffmann.

A true life story has been transformed into a moving play about courage, freedom, friendship and the dream of the Olympics. Following a personal meeting with Uta Hoffmann, the three girls wrote the script themselves and, together with their friends, developed it into a play featuring music, dance and drama. What makes this project special is that it was entirely self-directed. The script, set design, costumes and props were all designed and produced by the young people themselves. Together with friends, family and acquaintances, they are now bringing the story to the stage.

Look forward to a special evening of theatre that shows what can be achieved when young people give free rein to their creativity.

The micro-projects are intended to provide impetus for new cultural formats or encounters in Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture Region. The broad urban and regional society is called upon to create forms of communication and social interaction. The funding programme has existed for several years and is part of the main programme of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.
