New, bold concepts and compositions from all genres of electronic and electroacoustic music were sought. The submissions selected by a jury will be released on five compilations by raster-media and make a statement as European Soundtrack 20–25.
On three evenings in September, October and November, two artists will present their live performances in venues dedicated to European avant-garde and visual arts, providing a fitting setting for this project.
September: Liveperformances by Slowfoam (Berlin) & Gellért Szabò (Leipzig)
Slowfoam - Madelyn Byrd’s work is rooted in hydrofeminism, neuroaesthetics, and uncanny interactions between ecology and technology. Their genre-spanning music moniker, Slowfoam, playfully and tenderly explores glitched-out, swirling soundscapes from drones, sparkling ambiance, fuzzy poetics, field recordings, and textural percussion. For the raster.open call soundtrack Europe 20_25 Madelyn Byrd applied with an excerpt from a longform piece titled 'We Inherit The Nearness.' The piece explores the quantum material shifts of various electroacoustics and field recordings as they are decomposed and alchemized anew. Sound sources were collected over the span of a year in Berlin, DE, Kyoto, JP, and Mylokopi, GR.
