When the buildings decay, when human relationships fall apart: What do we cling to then? A priest who still performs his services, even though the church around him is barely standing, even though no one has been coming to mass for a long time, encounters ghosts - people who have long since cast off their mortal shell and yet cannot separate themselves from life. What is holding them back? What promises have not been fulfilled? Is it even the goal to detach oneself, to dissolve?

A thought-provoking project based on eure paläste sind leer (all we ever wanted) by Thomas Köck, his own texts and musical inspirations is being created in a first-time collaboration between the Schauspielstudio and the Opernstudio. In the contrast between sacred grandeur and decay, the young artists search for the future in the past and the past in the future. For what gives them stability and what holds them fast.
