As part of the "Museumcircle" accompanying programme, AuditivVokal Dresden presents a concert specially curated for Chemnitz, which places the works of three extraordinary composers - Heinrich Schütz, John Cage and Richard Röbel - in a fascinating metamodern dialogue. This concert transcends borders - between eras, religions and cultures. It is an evening that combines spirituality and artistic innovation while reflecting universal values and community. As the European Capital of Culture, Chemnitz will be the setting for a unique musical bridge-building event.

Heinrich Schütz, the important Saxon court conductor of the 17th century, epitomises the depth of European musical traditions and the close connection between faith and art with his "Geistliche Chor-Musik 1648".

John Cage, the innovative avant-garde composer of the 20th century, will congenially counterpoint Schütz's music with his radical and playful "Song Books", inspired by Eastern philosophy and the idea of freedom and individuality.

The young Chemnitz composer Richard Röbel combines the musical worlds of Schütz and Cage in a modern sound world and thus offers a unique synthesis of past and present.

The programme includes baroque masterpieces such as "So hat Gott die Welt geliebt" and "Selig sind die Toten" by Heinrich Schütz as well as central works from John Cage's "Song Books" and his iconic "4'33''". This unusual compilation is complemented by a contemporary composition by Richard Röbel, which interprets the humanistic values of music in a new way.

CHEMNITZER KLANGBRÜCKEN crosses borders - between eras, religions and cultures. The evening that combines spirituality and artistic innovation and reflects universal values and community. Chemnitz thus becomes the setting for a unique musical bridge-building event on the PURPLE PATH sculpture and art trail.

With the generous support of the Friends of the European Cultural Region Chemnitz 2025.
