The artist Martin Maleschka sees himself as a documentarian of the GDR's architectural heritage. For the art installation "Ersatzteillager", he borrowed many different objects from Chemnitz garages from their users and rearranged them in the vehicle lift of the high-rise garage. The installation makes it possible to experience the garage as a living archive. Chemnitz residents and guests can visit the "Ersatzteillager" until the end of the Capital of Culture year.
