Sukkot 2025

Location

Sukkot is a Jewish festival. It comprises seven days of joy in the spirit of gratitude for the harvest and in remembrance of the fragility of life. On Sukkot, Jews build huts of leaves and commemorate the Exodus, the long journey through the desert during the Exodus from Egypt.

As part of the Capital of Culture year, the Days of Jewish Culture in Chemnitz and the Jewish Community of Chemnitz will be celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles in public in the Stadthallenpark. Two sukkot will be set up: A kosher sukkah "Sukkat Shalom" of the community and the cultural sukkah "Sukkat Chaverim", of the friends. For one week, we pitch our tent in the Stadthallenpark and invite you to celebrate, eat, learn, pray and dance together. We create a place of hospitality, art and exchange. In the cooler evening hours, the programme moves indoors to various venues in the city.
