Karel Čapek's novel of the same name centres on the invention of a machine that completely decomposes matter, thereby generating a fantastic amount of energy. The side effect: uncontrollable radiation, the "absolute", which puts people in a euphoric state and turns them into fanatical worshippers of the reactor.
Will the world survive so much joy?

100 years after the novel was first published, the questions of happiness and prosperity are revisited. Čapek's fantastic happiness machine is restaged and offers the audience an experience full of delicious and free energy.

PURPLE PATH art and sculpture trail

Together with Chemnitz, 38 municipalities and communities form the Capital of Culture region, which will be the European Capital of Culture in 2025. The PURPLE PATH, a large art and sculpture trail and the main project of the European Capital of Culture, will be created in the region by 2025 and beyond.
