How are the textile industry of the GDR, sustainable fashion and the creative future of young people related? "Threads of Unity" combines history, craftworks and innovation in a unique intergenerational project. 

What is “Threads of Unity”?

This project brings young people and contemporary witnesses of the GDR together. In joint action they will dive deep into the history of east-German textile industry, learn about producing sustainable fashion and create their own piece of clothing. Through creative work, upcycling and exchanges with contemporary witnesses a bridge between the past and the future is built.

CREATE.U is the youth programme for Chemnitz 2025 initiated by Team Generation, which enables young people between the ages of 14 and 27 to implement their own project ideas in Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture region.As part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, Team Generation is entrusted with the participation of children, young people, young adults and older people and is developing a programme that takes up and combines their perspectives.
