The town centre around the Zwönitz market square is transformed into a festively illuminated Christmas market, with the festive lights being switched on ceremoniously on Friday evening. Other highlights include the daily opening of the doors on the town hall Advent calendar, the Father Christmas parade on Saturday with the pyramid being pushed into place, the evening procession up the mountain and the cutting of the giant stollen on Sunday. The highlights are framed by a varied stage programme and a cosy atmosphere.
This project is cofinanced by tax funds on the basis of the parliamentary budget of the state of Saxony and by federal funds from the Beauftragter der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media), as well as funds from the City of Chemnitz.
