In many regions of Europe, historical events have created an imbalance between the women and men who live there. This is something that Chemnitz and the Portuguese region of Mourão have in common. Those who remain are faced with the question: How can they make a permanent living there? Arts and crafts, historically a source of prosperity in both Chemnitz and Mourão, will serve as the project’s driving force for shaping the future. The Frauenzentrum Lila Villa invites women from both Chemnitz and Mourão to work together on a ceramic sculpture and to design a calendar. This will be accompanied by exhibitions and concerts. The highlight of the programme will be a joint trip on which participants can meet and share their experiences of crafts, art and life.
