Figures of Devotion

Photographs from Klinikum Chemnitz

Photo: Felix Bielmeier

Imaging procedures and their equipment are available to medical staff as an aid to knowledge. The sense of sight and its physical extension, photography, promise a high degree of rationality. At the invitation of Chemnitz Hospital, photographer Felix Bielmeier spent six months developing a work that visualised things not perceived by the public. Medical work and patient care were at the centre of the project - as well as a reflection on aesthetic boundaries and the ambivalent possibilities of the photographic image between information and social practice.
