With Deutsche Telekom, one of the world's leading providers of telecommunications and IT services, Chemnitz 2025 has gained another strong partner as a Gold Sponsor. The Bonn-based company plays a key role in digital networking and is actively shaping the digital transformation in Germany and Europe. Telekom attaches great importance to supporting cultural and educational projects that build local and international bridges.

A major event such as the opening of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 on 18 January 2025 requires a sophisticated infrastructure for live broadcasts, stage connections, mobile phone coverage and much more. Telekom Deutschland is providing significant support here with equipment and technological expertise.

Axel Wenzke, Deutsche Telekom Group Representative for the Eastern Region: "As Europe's leading telecommunications company, we connect the people on this continent. The images and messages from Chemnitz will travel around the world via our technologies. Fibre optics and 5G from Deutsche Telekom make it possible. That's why Deutsche Telekom is committed to Chemnitz as a partner of the European Capital of Culture 2025."

Sven Schulze, Lord Mayor of the City of Chemnitz: "This partnership is a signal, but also a vote of confidence in Chemnitz and its people. We are a city with rough edges, with history and vision. More than eight years ago, we harboured the dream of applying to become the European Capital of Culture. As we can see today, we were successful. So what could be better suited to this forward-looking idea than a company like Deutsche Telekom, which stands for networking, innovation and technology? Many thanks to Deutsche Telekom for this commitment, which is far more than just sponsorship. It is a commitment to Chemnitz. The European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 should connect people. Deutsche Telekom is now also contributing to this."

"With Deutsche Telekom as our infrastructure partner, we are laying the foundations for an unforgettable opening of Chemnitz 2025. Together, we will reach many people and create connections that reach far beyond our city limits. Deutsche Telekom is supporting us in bringing the images and impressions of this unique moment to the world and making the message of the European Capital of Culture tangible. Chemnitz 2025 stands for openness, diversity and a forward-looking vision, and together we are bringing these values to the international stage," summarises Andrea Pier, Commercial Director of Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH, .
