The town of Lichtenstein/Sa., located in the centre between the industrial cities of Chemnitz and Zwickau, boasts small-town flair and plenty of nature. The town of around 11,000 inhabitants can look back on over 800 years of history, which was shaped in particular by the von Schönburg family, who founded the town and built the first castle and later palace complexes. The historic palace palace, built in 1843, is now home to the Kultur.Palais.Lichtenstein, the town's cultural centre with a town museum and exhibition centre. The neighbouring French and English Gardens invite you to stroll and linger in secluded spots.

Lichtenstein Castle itself is currently being renovated and converted into a castle hotel. In Miniwelt Lichtenstein, visitors can travel around the globe in just one day. Over 100 famous buildings are faithfully reproduced here on a scale of 1:25. In the neighbouring Mini Cosmos Lichtenstein, on the other hand, you can go out into space - in one of Saxony's most modern mini planetariums. The Jehmlich organ in the Laurentiuskirche church promises aural delights. A panoramic cycle path offers relaxation in the countryside.
