On the road in Chemnitz and the region

The Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS) and the City-Bahn Chemnitz allow you to travel to the Capital of Culture region by bus and regional train. The area includes the cities of Chemnitz and Zwickau, the Erzgebirgskreis and the districts of Mittelsachsen and Zwickau.

Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG (CVAG) is the mobility service provider of the city of Chemnitz and enables you to explore the city area with numerous bus and tram lines.

With the Capital of Culture ticket, you can travel comfortably by bus, train and tram in Chemnitz and the entire Capital of Culture region. It is valid for three days and is available as a single ticket (€25) or group ticket for up to 5 people (€50).

The ticket is available in the MOOVME app or in the DB Navigator, at the Tourist Information Centre (Markt 1, Chemnitz) or at the ticket machine and on buses and trams (excluding SVZ trams).

You can reach many places in the Capital of Culture region directly from Chemnitz city centre without changing trains. this is a nationwide speciality in rail transport, the so-called Chemnitz model. It allows passengers to board a tram in the city centre, which later travels on to the surrounding area of Chemnitz as a regional train. This makes exploring the Capital of Culture region stress-free and convenient.

Especially during major events, we recommend that you use the free Park & Ride car parksof the city of Chemnitz. You can leave your car there and travel on comfortably by tram or bus.
