On the road in Chemnitz and the region

The Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS) and the City-Bahn Chemnitz allow you to travel to the Capital of Culture region by bus and regional train. The area includes the cities of Chemnitz and Zwickau, the Erzgebirgskreis and the districts of Mittelsachsen and Zwickau.

Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG (CVAG) is the mobility service provider of the city of Chemnitz and enables you to explore the city area with numerous bus and tram lines.

The ↗ circular bus line 82 connects the districts of Chemnitz and offers access to various cultural attractions. If you want, you can take the line on a city tour on your own.

You can reach many places in the Capital of Culture region directly from Chemnitz city centre without changing trains. this is a nationwide speciality in rail transport, the so-called Chemnitz model. It allows passengers to board a tram in the city centre, which later travels on to the surrounding area of Chemnitz as a regional train. This makes exploring the Capital of Culture region stress-free and convenient.

Especially during major events, we recommend that you use the free Park & Ride car parksof the city of Chemnitz. You can leave your car there and travel on comfortably by tram or bus.
