Museums strength democracy

Programme for the annual conference of the German Museums Association

The annual conference of the German Museum Association was the largest museum conference in Germany and took place in Chemnitz in 2025. It offered specialist lectures and opportunities to exchange experiences on current museum topics, as well as the chance to network with museum experts from Germany and abroad.

As public places, museums can strengthen democracy. The responsibility and role of museums as institutions for democracy were examined, and the tasks, limits and scope of museums as political actors were defined.
