Pop Up Exhibition Shaft 371

The exhibition offered visitors the opportunity to gain insights into the history of uranium mining and experience its lasting impact at an authentic location that had been temporarily opened to the public especially for this purpose. A temporary presentation was set up in the machine room between generators, hoisting machines and depth indicators, using key objects to highlight the history of uranium mining in Saxony. The exhibition highlighted the challenges and tasks involved in remediating the consequences of mining. At the same time, it looked to the future by focusing on Shaft 371 in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ore Mountains/Krušnohoří as the future venue for presenting the Wismut heritage.

The opening on 1 May commemorated the original name of SDAG Wismut's ‘Jugendschacht 1. Mai’ (1 May Youth Shaft).
