Out of Order

A queer-feminist exhibition on identity and its forms of expression

Illustration: Ulrike Schell

Are you allowed to be the person you want to be? And are you allowed to be it everywhere? These were the central questions of the exhibition, which reflected the different realities of life of people who had intensively explored their gender and social identity. Video works, oil paintings, sculptures and other works questioned established norms, addressed body hatred and shame, documented the search for one's own boundaries and the pure happiness of being seen as the person you were. In workshops and discussions with artists, ideas were sought on how encrusted structures can be left behind - for a more loving coexistence.
