Social Media Guide
for project partners of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH
Definition programme partners: All partners who implement a project from the main programme of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 on behalf of Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH. This includes projects from Bid Book II, projects from the Open Calls and Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH's own programme. The guidelines described here apply to all social media platforms on which the project is communicated.
Labelling in the profile description (‘profile bio’)
A distinction is made here between:
- Accounts whose content mainly relates to the project (e.g. accounts such as @kosmoschemnitz, @sports_united_chemnitz, @begehungen_festival): naming / tagging in the profile description (German or English):
‘Teil von @chemnitz2025’ or “part of @chemnitz2025” or “ein Projekt für @chemnitz2025” or ’project for @chemnitz2025.
- Accounts of an institution or a sponsor organising the project and / or the content of the project for Chemnitz 2025 is shared on the account (e.g. accounts of the Kunstsammlungen or Theater Chemnitz): here naming / tagging: ‘programme partner of @chemnitz2025’ or ‘programme partner of @chemnitz2025’
Mentioning the origin of the funding in posts (post text) or Instagram highlight stories
The European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH must comply with the ‘publicity’ requirement set out in the funding decision. This means that all publications must include information about the source of funding in an appropriate place. This also applies to project partners who are supported or financed by Chemnitz 2025.
This is implemented in concrete terms:
- Integration of the funding logo bar as a graphic: Especially in posts at the start of the project or with the start of communication about the project, it is a good idea to post the funding logos as part of an image / graphic carousel (see logos & graphics for the funding logos and examples of use)
- Mention in posts on social media: Especially in posts at the start of the project (e.g. exhibition opening) or with the start of communication about the project, the following funding rate can be mentioned in the post text: ‘This project is part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. This project is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the parliamentary budget of the state of Saxony and by federal funds from the Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media), as well as funds from the City of Chemnitz.’ → Funding rate and funding logos always together in one graphic
- When using the social media platform Instagram: Permanent storage of the funding logos in a ‘story highlight’ (only for accounts that relate to a Chemnitz 2025 project, e.g. Kosmos): So-called ‘story highlights’ can be created on the platform, i.e. Instagram stories that can be found permanently in the profile. A story with a funding rate and funding logo can be saved here.
Linking @chemnitz2025, use of hashtags and mentions in the text
- To make it easier to find postings and profiles and to make the Chemnitz 2025 projects more visible in general, it is suggested that the @chemnitz2025 account is linked in all postings of the project and that the following hashtags be used: #chemnitz2025, #CtheUnseen
- The use of other, possibly project-related hashtags and linking of accounts is of course possible!
- Other hashtags related to Chemnitz 2025: #chemnitz, #KulturhauptstadtChemnitz #Kulturhauptstadtregion, #ecoc #ecoc2025 (ecoc stands for European Capital of Culture, used throughout Europe in connection with European Capitals of Culture).
- an additional mention in the posting text that an event is part of the Chemnitz 2025 programme is recommended
