Celebrating Jewish life together, sharing unknown traditions and inviting people to come together in respect – that was the aim of Sukkot. The Feast of Tabernacles was one of the traditional Jewish festivals. Sukkot was a joyful celebration commemorating the exodus of the Jewish people from Egypt. The festival was dominated by a historical experience: a migration of legendary proportions. Sukkot commemorated the collective experience of homelessness, the search for a new home and the journey into the unknown. Workshops in kindergartens, schools and local communities involved all generations. In addition, the construction of the sukkah was open to enthusiastic hut builders from across the region. Reading, singing, eating, celebrating, discussing, getting to know each other – the sukkah invited people to do all this and much more.
