In the tetralogy Inside Outside Europe , four plays share a stage. The four performances tell of clowns and laughter in Europe, of entanglements in German fascism, of home and migrant experiences. With theatres from Chemnitz and the region.

Full programme in June

At the international festival for contemporary dance TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ , June becomes theatre month. Over four days, the "Odyssey in C" invites you to a one-day dance spectacle at various locations in the city, inspired by the novel of the century "Ulysses" by James Joyce.

An Opera about the (im)possibilities of life

For Chemnitz 2025, Rummelplatz is an opera based on the great novel of the same name by Chemnitz writer Werner Bräunig. It is about how people relate to social conditions, the political system and the thoughts and moods of their time.

Archaeology of things

Puppet theatre of garage items

In August and September, the Archaeology of Things presents a (puppet) theatre of found objects from Chemnitz garages. The players join the audience on a joint search for spaces for the future and ask what is missing.
