The THREADS OF UNITY connect generations and fashion: Tailors who used to work in the GDR reactivate their craftsmanship to develop and produce new fashion creations together with young people. This collection, referencing the region’s history, will be presented in public spaces as part of fashion shows, exhibitions and performances. Workshops will be held from February to June, followed by exhibitions and presentations until the end of November. The Europeanwide operating, Chemnitz-based fashion label UNKNOWN BASICS, the Faculty of Applied Arts in Schneeberg and the textile hub in the Esche Museum in Limbach-Oberfrohna are supporting the project, as are numerous regional companies and former production sites.
