Travelling Journeymen and Women in the European Capital of Culture Region

The historic "Walz" journeyman's walk is old and yet young every year: it is an intangible cultural heritage in Germany. Every year, around 450 journeymen experience the country, the people and their profession in a very special way. in 2025, Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture region worked and built for charitable projects and with the support of regional associations. The tradition of cosmopolitanism was put into practice in everyday working life - and people got to know each other by developing joint solutions to problems in practice. The project also involved school pupils in the construction sites and thus promoted the skilled trades. And at the end of the day, the travelling companions from many European countries enjoyed what the European Capital of Culture had to offer.
