The historic »Walz« – the wanderings of journeymen and woman – is an old tradition imbued with fresh life every year by them travelling through Germany experiencing the country, its people, and their profession. In 2025, Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture region will host activities of constructing and creating for charitable projects – being supported by regional associations. The tradition of openness to the world as well as developing joint solutions to problems are part of the mentality in everyday working life. The project also involves school pupils in the construction sites promoting the possibility to take on training for the skilled trades. At the end of the day, the journey men and women from many European countries enjoy what the European Capital of Culture has to offer.
