Chemnitz

Look forward to unseen art, diverse and international encounters, large and small festivals and exhibitions. You can expect a culture clash between high culture and a lively indie scene, between Art Nouveau, industrial and GDR architecture and post-socialist modernism.

The Capital of Culture Region

Chemnitz 2025 invites you to discover the region, to see it with different eyes, perhaps even to leave familiar paths.

This is because 38 towns and municipalities from Central Saxony, the Zwickau region and the Ore Mountains together with Chemnitz form the European Capital of Culture region and together hold the title of "European Capital of Culture".
