On Tuesday, 8 October 2024, the Day of the Elderly will take place at the DAStietz cultural department stores' in Chemnitz from 10 am to 2 pm. At this event, initiated by Bürgerhaus City, initiatives and charitable organisations present special offers for the 60+ generation. This year, the Chemnitz 2025 project "Dancing Neighbours" will be performing a dance performance for the first time.

Older people have been rehearsing contemporary dance and movement forms for several months. They are led by dancer and dance teacher Terrry Pedersen Pfeiffer. The aim is to give older people the opportunity to try out something new, stay active and become visible in the Capital of Culture programme with small performances.

Employees from Team Generation will also be on site. Team Generation is active as part of Chemnitz 2025 and promotes intergenerational cooperation, in particular the participation of children, young people and older people aged 60+. The aim is to develop programmes that take up and combine the perspectives of different generations. To this end, Team Generation works closely with project organisers, institutions and municipal and state administrations.

You can find more information about Team Generation here.
