On the first Sunday of Advent, the Lehngericht in Augustusburg hosted a Christmas hands-on workshop. As part of the Maker Advent, the afternoon took young and old alike into a world of creativity, craftsmanship and modern technology.
The event offered a colourful range of creative hands-on activities where visitors could try out different techniques for themselves under the guidance of makers from Augustusburg and the region. Czech guests from the Institut technického vzdělávání in Litoměřice and illustrator Mariana Hlubiňáková from Kadaň also found their way to snowy Augustusburg and enriched the event with their skills and knowledge.
From making textile herbal cushions and designing wooden pendants to 3D printing chocolate, there were numerous opportunities to express their own creativity. The numerous participants were able to stamp Christmas postcards, solder LED light arches, cast brass and plot Christmas motifs on fabric bags. In addition to the creative activities, visitors were able to warm up with punch and mulled wine and enjoy tasty treats from the pizza oven.
The afternoon was accompanied by the atmospheric dialect music of FEI from the Ore Mountains. This pre-Christmas day was not only a feast for the senses for the guests, but also an encounter with art, crafts and their own creativity.
The Alte Lehngericht in Augustusburg is a Makerhub of the European Capital of Culture 2025. The nine Makerhubs are open workshops in which people with a passion for crafts, technology and culinary delights get involved. Experimenting, learning from each other, creating something new together: the Makerhubs are the new WE places in Chemnitz and the cultural region.
