Chemnitz 2025 Info Café: News from the Capital of Culture year projects

At the Info Café on 6 May, various Chemnitz 2025 programme partners will provide an insight into their current projects and present documentation of their Capital of Culture activities. There will also be information on a participatory project in the Theatre of the World festival, which will take place in Chemnitz from 18 June.
René Kästner, the initiator of the Hallenkunst exhibition, is one of the guests at the Info Café. The Hallenkunst not only showed works by graffiti and street art artists in the former market hall last year, but also left a lasting impression on the cityscape with large-format "public murals". René Kästner will present the recently published exhibition catalogue.
Numerous visitors are expected again this year for the street art festival Hutfestival and this year's Parksommer . The organiser C³ Chemnitzer Veranstaltungszentren GmbH will provide initial insights in the Info Café.
Colombian artist Checho Tamayo is developing a performance at theTheater der Welt festival in Chemnitz that combines sport, dance and ritual, inspired by street football in his home country. He invites people from the city who enjoy movement to actively participate. The results will be performed at various locations in the city on 4 and 5 July. On 6 May, he will present the participation project and provide information on how interested parties can get involved.
In 2025, the Sächsische Mozartgesellschaft demonstrated with its Bewegende Klänge project that the tango actually comes from Chemnitz. In the Info Café, it presents upcoming events centred around tango and the bandoneon.
At the exhibition Stadt am Fluss - Stadt im Fluss in the Garagen-Campus, artists from the twin cities of Chemnitz and Düsseldorf presented works dedicated to the flowing and streaming of things and thoughts, the bridging and connecting of opposites during the Capital of Culture year. A volume documenting the exhibition is now available and will be presented on this evening.
Community Music in Chemnitz means: Every person is an artist! The Paper Lantern collective will be showing a short film documentary about the programme with which it toured the Sonnenberg in 2025 to make music together with the people in the district.
The info café is a public platform for dialogue with interested parties. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to exchange ideas with the project partners involved.
