Marlen Hobrack (born 1986 in Bautzen) studied literature, cultural and media studies and art history at TU Dresden. Since 2016, she has been writing as a columnist, cultural journalist and literary critic for various newspapers and magazines, including Zeit, Welt, Taz, Spiegel and Freitag, which also publishes her column Mutti Politics (Warum Mutterschaft politisch ist). Her book Klassenbeste. Wie Herkunft unsere Gesellschaft spteilt was published in 2022, and her non-fiction book 100 Seiten Klassismus was published in 2024. She has been honoured with the Jörg Henle Prize for Literary Criticism and the Anna Seghers Prize. Marlen Hobrack has three children and lives in Leipzig.
