A migrant falls ill and dies far from their country of origin. What conditions arise when the support of relatives fails to materialise due to insurmountable visa and entry regulations? And what voids are left by the lack of rituals and traditions that are no longer a matter of course in the life of a binational union? Musician Kerim Melik Becker and writer Cornelia Becker explored these questions following the death of their partner and father, Algerian musician Ahmed Chouraqui. As part of the Embodied Temporalities art festival (at Oyoun Berlin), they created the installation: Hanging the memory in the wind.

Cornelia Becker. Freelance writer and poet. Studies: German, Spanish, art therapy. Involved in the development of various feminist intercultural projects, including Literatur Frauen e.V. Berlin. Involved in initiatives such as The Poetry Project, a poetry workshop for young refugees. In addition to publishing stories and poetry in magazines, anthologies and radio, she has also published novels and short story collections.
Kechou (Kerim Melik Becker), a Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter, combines influences from Gnawa, Raï, Afrobeat and Kwaito with electronic sounds and self-built instruments to create a distinctive sound.
