The documentary "Community Music Chemnitz: A City of Artists" follows the development of a community music programme on the Sonnenberg in Chemnitz as part of the European Capital of Culture 2025. Over the course of several months, the film documents how people from different walks of life come together for the first time, make music together and creatively shape the city's public spaces.
The film focuses on rehearsals, workshops and joint performances as well as the question of how new encounters can be created through music and how long-term social change can be initiated through genuine participation.
The premiere of the film will take place online on YouTube. This will be followed by a live discussion with the film team and the Paper Lantern Collective team, who will provide insights into the making of the film and the collective's community music work.
