Tech Drop-in – Learning, connecting and participating together
The “Technik-Sprechstunde” is an accessible service that brings people from different backgrounds together and enables them to develop digital skills within a supportive community. For many people, particularly new arrivals and refugees, being able to use smartphones, the internet and digital applications confidently is a key prerequisite for finding their way in everyday life and participating in society. Today, the smartphone is an essential tool for communication, accessing information, making appointments, dealing with public authorities and building social relationships.
During the drop-in sessions, participants learn together how to use digital devices and applications. They receive support with operating smartphones, using the internet, communicating digitally, and with questions about apps and settings. The focus is not only on technical knowledge, but also on personal interaction and collaborative learning. A particular strength of the project is that it brings together people who might not otherwise meet in their everyday lives. Refugees, people with a migrant background and other residents of the city get to know one another, share experiences and support one another. This leads to new connections, greater mutual understanding and a stronger sense of community.
The session creates a safe space where participants can ask questions without fear of making mistakes. At the same time, they practise and use the German language in practical, everyday situations. Learning together promotes independence, self-confidence and active participation in social life.
Continuing the project is therefore of great importance, as there remains a demand for support in the digital sphere. By continuing the project, existing connections can be maintained, new encounters facilitated and an important contribution made to integration and social cohesion.
