How are industrial companies changing in the face of ecological, digital and social upheaval - and what is needed for this change to succeed? The panel discussion "Industry in Transition - Paths, Visions, Limits" is dedicated to these questions. The event will take place as part of the special exhibition "Tales of Transformation" and is a cooperation with the Industrieverein Sachsen 1828 e.V. Representatives from industry, science and the start-up scene as well as citizens will be brought into dialogue with each other.

The discussion will focus on various forms of industrial transformation - from electromobility and sustainable materials to the promotion of young companies. The focus will not only be on examples of success, but also on the structural, political and social hurdles associated with transformation processes. The panellists will discuss both regional experiences and supra-regional perspectives, spanning the spectrum from structural change in eastern Germany since the 1990s to today's innovation networks.

The discussion will be moderated by journalist and MDR reporter Britta Veltzke.

 

The event is aimed at professionals and students as well as interested citizens. Following the discussion, there will be an opportunity for open dialogue over drinks and snacks.

Tales of Transformation

In its major exhibition ‘Tales of Transformation’, the Industriemuseum Chemnitz compares the development of former industrial hotspots: Chemnitz, Gabrovo, Łódź, Manchester, Mulhouse and Tampere. The exhibition sheds light on the impulses for the future coming from these cities and what they can learn from each other: rapid growth and splendid wealth paired with precarious living conditions - later a radical collapse and the necessary reinvention. The exhibition is part of the main programme of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.
