We are looking for European Volunteers!

We cordially invite Europeans between the ages of 18 and 30 to participate in the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 and become volunteers. The volunteer service is implemented as part of the European Solidarity Corps. There are four different fields of activity for European volunteers at Chemnitz 2025.

Accommodation is provided by our partner organisation FUU Sachsen. Volunteers also receive pocket money and reimbursements for travel costs according to the Erasmus+ Distance Calculator. Application deadline is 31 August 2024.

The Volunteer programme brings together hundreds of people of all ages and professions to contribute to the Capital of Culture year. You will help us prepare and organise training sessions, leisure activities and get-togethers for the volunteers. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside volunteers on our flagship projects. Wheter for concerts, readings, exhibitions in the garage courtyards, creative industries in the old power station, Tree plantings, sports events, a helping hand with publicity and press work or the big Opening Ceremony for the Capital of Culture Year: we need your help! Our goal: Together with a wide range of stakeholders, we want to create an extraordinary programme for 2025 that gives new impetus to art and culture, participation and ideas for the future. We invite everyone to discover the hidden sides of the city and region.

You should be curious about many different projects, mainly in the field of arts and culture, with many different people. Some knowledge of communication, organisation and maybe even volunteering would be great. You won’t always be sitting in an office. From time to time we get things done with lots of other volunteers. Some technical skills are helpful but not essential. A general interest in art, culture, music, theatre, sport, sustainability, creativity or similar would be great.

As part of the programme for the European Capital of Culture, many projects will be carried out by so-called Bid Book partners. Theatres, associations, initiatives and other cultural organisations are carrying out small and large projects in the fields of sport, music, crafts, literature, dance, neighbourhood, democracy and diversity. Based on the Capital of Culture’s Diversity Programme, you can help shape many of these projects by supporting the project management. You will not only get to know different parts of the city, but also many creative people who want to work with you and your international perspective.

You should be curious about many different projects with many different cultures and be committed to diversity, variety and equal treatment of all people. You will support several small projects that promote these values. Skills in communications, event organisation, social media, graphic design or even some technical experience, for example in transport and logistics, will help us. A general interest in art, culture, music, theatre, sport, sustainability, creativity or similar would be great.
